Socket Sniffer is a small software application developed specifically for helping you capture TCP/IP packets and analyze the captured data as a sequence of conversations between clients and servers.
You can deploy the tool on all Windows versions out there. In order to run the program correctly and avoid compatibility issues, you need to deploy .NET Framework on the target computer.
The utility is able to display the TCP/IP conversations in an ASCII mode for text-based protocols, like HTTP, SMTP, and POP3, or as HEX dump for non-text based protocols.
Portable tool
This is a portable program. You can store it on USB flash drives or other portable devices to have it with you all the time. In addition, you may run it without administrative privileges.
Gaining access to its features requires only opening the executable file because there’s no setup included in the process. It does not write entries to your Windows registry and leave other configuration files on the target PC. It actually saves the settings data to the storage device.
Clean feature lineup

Sniff TCP/IP packets
The application is able to capture TCP/IP packets that pass through your network adapter and reveals the information directly in the main window. You only need to input the target IP address.
What’s more, you are given the possibility to start or stop the sniffing process. You can also input a custom IP address in order to make the program highlight it in the main window.
Socket Sniffer reveals detailed information about the protocol, local address, remote address, local/remote port number, local/host, number of packets, data size, total size, and time when data was captured.
You can also check out the ASCII or HEX dump data displayed at the bottom of the GUI for each recorded line. Plus, you may copy the information to the clipboard so you can transfer it into other programs.
Tests have shown that Socket Sniffer carries out a task quickly and without errors. It does not eat up a lot of CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.

Sniffer is a tool for quickly capturing traffic on a computer over a network interface and analyzing it. Its main functions are capturing and analyzing packet streams on a computer, displaying them, searching for specific information, saving captured packets in an archive, and transferring captured packets to other computers.

* Worked perfectly for me.
* It saves the settings to the USB drive when exiting the program.
* I use this for a home scanner and it’s good to have a system wide.
My company recently moved our IP infrastructure to this provider, where we have had a very stable setup and connection since we got the service.
We’re a small non-profits organization with a lot of demands. Therefore, we use a load-balancing-proxy (HAProxy) and some backend servers (nginx+php-fpm) to serve different purpose. When the connection fails and the load-balancer will automatically failover to another node in our pool.
Anyway, this morning we had an issue in our backend servers, one of them was not responding anymore, and it took the load-balancer 3 hours to failover to another server.
While it was waiting we had no access to any site or to the database. Even the load-balancer wasn’t able to restart the server (because it was unreachable). This was a big problem, as the customer lost a lot of visitors and money and we had no access to the backend server to fix it.
We went to the support and asked them what was the problem with our servers, and we were told that the server was down because it was using the IP address of another server in our pool, even if the server wasn’t connected to any network.
Well, it looks like our server are being used by the load-balancer, and our website wasn’t able to connect to the server because the load-balancer is using the IP address of the service provider.
I tried to contact them, but they didn’t answer and I didn’t even get an e-mail to give me more information.
I hope they will take the issue seriously, as we’re talking about a quite big organization.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
My NAT router has a problem to know the IP address that have the port 80 on my PC, but if I open the LAN connection (WAN) this info is known.
My computer has two IP address and I must have the same, if I make a remote desktop connection. My question is, how can I change the IP to always have the same IP address?
Thanks!
Hi,
I have a problem with a Windows XP Home computer which has a 10/100 LAN connection, and is set for 24 hour access.
I cannot find where to disable the “Start networking when the computer starts” setting. There is no such option in the network properties, and the ‘change advanced system settings’ has no such option.
I have been in various forums, and have no option but to set up the computer with a static IP address which is not my preference, or use the Microsoft method of resetting the DHCP server and IP address
